I’m a New Student, How Do I Join Kaakko as a Member?

Feeling overwhelmed by the information during orientation week? No worries, we’ve put together instructions here to help you join as a member of Student Union Kaakko!

BEFORE JOINING AS A MEMBER

  • Ensure that you have access to your school email address (@edu.xamk.fi).

Membership registration for Kaakko takes place through the registration form: order a student card.

WHAT YOU NEED FOR JOINING AS A MEMBER

  • Your student number, which starts with “23” and includes 5 additional random numbers, e.g. 2312345.
  • Your student email, your student email ends with @edu.xamk.fi. NOTE: Student emails DO NOT WORK in the format firstname.lastname@edu.xamk.fi.
  • A payment method. You can pay the membership fee in the online store with common payment cards, MobilePay, Pivo, or online banking.
  • A portrait photo of yourself, if you wish to order a physical student card. The photo should be in portrait orientation, in JPG format, a clear portrait photo, with a neutral background and where you are recognizable.

GETTING YOUR MEMBERSHIP LIKE THIS

Go to the registration form: order a student card. Authenticate with your school email address. Enter the requested information in the form. Add your portrait photo. Now you can choose which membership option you want to purchase. You can choose whether to pay the membership fee per semester or for the entire duration of your studies. Additionally, you can choose whether to get a physical student card or to use only the digital student card included in the membership fee (Slice and/or Pivo).

THE FOLLOWING MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE

  • Membership + mobile student card, autumn semester 2023 / 22 euros
  • Membership + physical and mobile student card, spring semester 2024 / 34 euros
  • Membership + mobile student card, academic year 2023-2024 / 35 euros
  • Membership + physical and mobile student card, academic year 2023-2024 / 47 euros
  • You can also order the card for multiple years.

Prices include the plastic card, membership, and handling fees. You can save 17€ if you don’t order a physical student card.

For the activation of the digital student card, we also need your personal identification number when joining.

Now that you have paid the Kaakko membership fee and joined as a member, you can enjoy numerous student discounts.
